So, it goes without saying that after NASTY SAVAGE`s debut album, expectations were very, very high. To say the least. Was their next album going to be awesome too? Well, in hindsight, I think yes. “Indulgence” holds up. Really well, I must add. This stuff is good, it is damn lethal. Songs like “Stabbed in the Back,” “XXX” and “Indulgence” or “Distorted Fanatic” are catchy as fuck, they remain strong and make you feel excited, after so many years it was out. Hard to believe this album is 38 years old. Damn!!!! Maybe it’s so great because of its impeccable production? This album was recorded at Morrisound Studios and produced by the one and only Jim Morris. The outcome? Splendid, I daresay, even today the quality of the “Indulgence” sound is just exceptional. True, there are plenty of very good studios in Poland but trust me on this: Polish bands can only dream of the sound quality Morrisound Studios was able to provide. Man, just imagine our VADER recording their albums at this studio…the outcome`d be a killer, that’s for sure. Ok, back to “Indulgence” if you don’t mind. The music itself has progressed, that’s very obvious. Compared to the debut album, the songs are more complex, more mature. “Indulgence” seems more technically advanced and intricate. Both albums are very good, don’t get me wrong – I do love the debut album. But “Indulgence” is just far more advanced, though it was recorded just two years after their debut album was out. These new cuts aren’t as catchy as the ones on NS`s self-titled debut album. One needs to focus on the music now, “work” on these songs a little. This is, musically speaking, a different kind of music manifestation. Indeed, with each and every album, NASTY SAVAGE challenged themselves and improved their own skills. The level of complicity and metricity in their music was higher and higher, rendering their music more and more twisted, more technically advanced and, thus, far ahead of other thrash bands in those years. Even today, the abundance of sound arrangements or rich guitar passages is simply breathtaking. This is how timeless music is created. And NASTY SAVAGE has mastered their song-writing skills to a totally unbelievable, stellar level.
