IN AEVUM AGERE- Darkness Then Light CD Metal On Metal 2024

“Darkness Then Light” is IN AEVUM AGERE`s fourth album. What these Italians offer on this full-length recording is top-notch doom metal; just like their other, very original albums are so full of! They follow the paths trodden by genre’s other tycoons…“Darkness Then Light” consists of omnipotently-sounding songs created by a band who`re fascinated with classic doings by CANDLEMASS. Yet, we ought to note IN AEVUM AGERE do not copy the music the Swedish band has created. Rather, it is an attempt to re-create CANDLEMASS` atmosphere in their own, unique, original way.  The very initial seconds of the album`s first song “Kerberos” announces we are already experiencing very spirited, epic music. The band are able, very skillfully, to create a complex web of music sounds, which radiates through its listener with its mysterious aura. “The Harpies and the Suicides” is very charming and, I would say, literally breathtaking. You really are gasping for these innovative sounds. The sound is massive and makes you think you are experiencing something majestic, eternal and, at the same time, totally magical. “Antenora” is another gem this original album features. This song is very rich in sounds, it emanates with sensuality and some unknown mystery. This is so irresistibly charming. “Phlegyas” is a song, which is suffused with majestic beauty…the sound is omnipotent and very massive. All this, when combined with Bruno Masull`s unique vocals and very moving, almost “weeping” guitar solos, does, really well, penetrate the listener and mark his soul forever. “Darkness, Then Light,” on the flip side, seems a much livelier song, with plenty of positive aura in it. It doesn’t surprise me this track became the album`s title song. This song is undeniably full of musical potential. “Itinerarium Mentis in Deum” is where both hidden sorrow and hope are blended with each other. And again, the band is able to create a very positive atmosphere. “The Descent” is next – a truly memorable song, plain and simple. By contrast, instrumental “Ad Finem” is more dynamic, maybe because of its very powerful guitar work? Yes, this song is truly memorable and thrilling. This song also shows how skillful IN AEVUM AGERE are. “The Mountain of Purgatory” is the last song on this album and the longest song too. Interestingly, none of the songs on “Darkness Then Light” is longer than 6 minutes. Indeed, for this sort of music, well, this is quite unusual. As a result, the content of “Darkness Then Light” is very clear, concise and transparent. This album is anything but boring. This album is suffused with plenty of hidden gems, fecundity of sounds and atmospheric parts.Hard to stop listening to this very romantic album.Enchanting and alluring, would you agree yourself? Go ahead and check this unique album out.
