SHAYTAN hails from Germany. Their debut album is suffused with obscure, classic doom metal.

The sound is very filthy and jet-black to the bone with some oriental mysticism peppered here and there.

All this makes SHAYTAN`s music appear very majestic…many are of the opinion this genre is sort of over-explored; therefore, to come up with something new and fresh is arduous a task.

Well, maybe they are right but hey, there is still plenty of good, interesting music to choose from.

And this is what “Chapter One” is all about; this music is darn charming and absorbing.

True, SHAYTAN does not try to reinvent the wheel, so to say.

Instead, they manage to create very expressive music that builds up a really interesting atmosphere and enchants the listener.

These songs aren’t fillers, not at all. They are full of sheer, untamed energy. SHAYTAN does, very skillfully, explore the genre and, as a result, comes up with a very original doom metal melting pot. “Chapter One” is anything but boring!

And this debut album has been created by the band that formed just 2 years ago. Imagine?

I can tell you this: “Chapter One” is proof that SHAYTAN has plenty of potential and that we need to patiently wait for their next release. A very enjoyable album, plain and simple!! Get it.
